Dear Diary — June 7th, 2134
11:30 AM: I woke up late this morning to a cup of hot coffee sitting on my bedside table. It’s the first thing I could smell upon waking up thanks to my low-level home assistant robot. Then I got out of bed, coffee in hand, and looked out my 20 floor building window. I saw what I see every morning: a luscious landscape of towering skyscrapers. To the left most of my field of view I see darker, grimmer, older buildings, decorated with pipes and machinery. On the right most side of my view sit luxurious skyscrapers covered in beautiful green canopies and solar arrays.
12:00 AM: I took the elevator down to the street. As I exit I throw a virtual bone to the digital puppy augmented just outside the building. As I walk to work I shield myself from light rainfall and admire the bright lights and obtrusive augmented billboards. I pass people of a variety of styles, most sporting advanced prosthetic limbs and neural implants, allowing them to see and interact with the world around them. I myself have a prosthetic arm decorated with a blue dragon, as well as a neural implant at the back of my neck which allows me to see in augmented reality and interact with the digital world. In this world there are not only sentient humans, but also sentient machines walking among us. They are treated the same as a human would…
