Lost and Found in the Digital Dimension: A Look at the Internet From a Gen-z-er
My perspective on the Internet as someone born in the new Millennium
Generation Z has gazed in awe at the wonders of technology since the dawn of the new millennium. We truly live in a digital dimension, one so vast that it can be hard not to get lost in. As a young soul gazing into the magic of the internet, one question comes to mind: What are the limits to this digital realm?
I remember watching Steve Jobs unveil the 1st generation ipod touch live. It was unbelievable that an entire new world could exist within the palm of my hands; I needed it. And I got it. That christmas was when I first discovered the ocean of videos on Youtube. It was endless. It seemed like anything I could possibly imagine I could find. Minecraft redstone tutorials, Birthday prank compilations, daily vlogs, music, and so much more. There were no limits in sight to my young mind.
Humans are tool-making creatures, and for all of our existence we have been pushing the boundaries of ingenuity. From sticks to stones to huts to homes, and all the way down the line of technological progression until the point that we’re at now; a world dependent on the digital dimensions we inhabit.
