Introduction

Synchronicity is a term coined by Psychologist Carl Jung. It’s an acausal connecting principle, which basically means that internal psychological events are connected to an external event. It could also be more simply described as a meaningful coincidence. Synchronicity is the way in which the I-Ching functions. The I-Ching is an ancient Chinese divination text made up of 64 hexagrams. Any form of divination works due to Synchronicity, and The I-Ching is of the earliest to do so. It’s fascinating how ancient wisdom connects to modern day concepts such as synchronicity and psychology of the mind.

Understanding Synchronicity

Instead of causal chains of events, synchronicity connects internal psychological events to external world events through meaningful coincidences. The important part of synchronicity is meaning. Without meaning it’s just a normal causal event. To give you a personal example, I used to watch a YouTube channel that had the number 434 as a significant part of their brand. For several years now I consistently come across the number 434 in all kinds of different locations. I’ll check the time for it to be 4:34 pm. I’ll check…
